Finding natural ways to take care of ourselves, and particularly focusing on Mother Earth, we see how important it is for us to preserve her natural resources. Filled with the most spectacular, awe-inspiring, natural healing commodities to help with relaxation, bring calm to ones busy life and deep healing for the body, mind and soul, we take a look at earth-friendly, natural options available to us. Editor of Simply Green Magazine, Nicole Sherwin reports.
Natural Hot Springs:
Hot springs have been known for many centuries for their healing properties. The heat and subsequent sweating have deeply cleansing effects on our skin and entire body/mind system and the deep mineral-rich content of the water offers unique benefits. If the spring is in a relatively natural environment, there is a greater chance of us receiving the qi (life-force energy) of all five elements: earth (the ground in which the spring is held); metal (the various minerals in the spring-water); water (the water itself); wood (the surrounding trees, and/or the wooden benches etc. surrounding the spring); and fire (the heat of the water, and the sun overhead). As such, hotsprings have the capacity to balance and harmonize our body/mind, quite naturally.
Organic, Volcanic Ash:
Volcanic ash has been used for centuries by the native Melanesians and Polynesians for the treatment of a wide variety of infections. Ash has anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-yeast and general disinfectant qualities. It is also high in sulphur, an active mineral ingredient that not only helps the body to resist bacteria but actually destroys it. Sulphur exists in your haemoglobin and connective body tissue to disinfect the blood; stimulate bile secretion; aid the oxidation reactions in the body;protect the protoplasm of cells; and for the synthesis of collagen (one of the main proteins needed for the structural integrity of your skin). Sulphur slows down the aging process because of its ability to protect against the toxic effects of pollution and radiation. It is part of the chemical structure of the amino acids glutathione, taurine, cysteine, and methionine.
Waterfalls:
Visiting waterfalls or ‘waterfalling’ as it has been coined, is known to help lift our spirits and bring a calming effect that only nature can create. The dramatic, thunderous falls can have a serious impact on the psyche, allowing us to feel alive, more vibrant and in touch with our body/mind/soul.
