Love your liver
Thursday 24 June 2010
by Janine Tassi

Why? Because it’s the largest single organ in the human body responsible for many vital life functions.

Due to its many important activities, the liver is thus exposed to a number of insults and is one of the body's organs most subject to injury. Overindulgence in most forms thus plays a major negative role, including excessive drinking, eating and smoking. And with soccer fever in the air, many people are at risk.

Prevention is obviously better than cure, but if you can’t avoid those simple indulgences during this festive period, take some precaution if you can. Up your antioxidant and Vitamin B intake, eat more raw foods and greens, opt for leaner meat options and supplement with Milk Thistle.

Traditional milk thistle extract is made from the seeds of the Milk Thistle plant, which contain approximately 4-6% silymarin (a flavonolignan complex). Milk thistle has been reported to have protective effects on the liver and to greatly improve its function. It is typically used to treat liver cirrhosis, chronic hepatitis (liver inflammation), toxin-induced liver damage and gallbladder disorders.

It is available in a herbal tincture, capsules, tablet and tea format mostly and can be taken before and after indulgence. Click here to view some of our Milk Thistle products: http://wellnesswarehouse.com/search/?var=Milk+Thistle∏=1
