Answer Aim herbal fibreblend is a product sold through multilevel marketing. I am aware of the formulation & can recommend the use thereof. Wellness Warehouse stocks similar products, ie Barley Green Fibre Cleanse, Good Health Flaxomucil, Amipro Colon Ecology just to name a few. However if constipation persists , then I suggest you investigate your diet , and whether you possibly have reduced levels of digestive enzymes. This would definitely assist you. You can also read up on some other health tips on our healthnotes section by following this link: www.wellnesswarehouse.com/healthnotes.php?org=wellware&ContentID=1195002 Please feel free to come into Wellness & discuss your condition. Take care.Kind regards, Felicia (Senior Pharmacist & Integrative Health Consultant)

Answer I suggest you use Magnesium Oxide (Amipro) in powder form as it works really well as a laxative by releasing oxygen into the colon and making it an aerobic environment. This makes it easier for your good bacteria to flourish. It also acts as an antacid and is helpful in improving symptoms of indigestion. Do not use for longer than 3 months. You can also be suffering from an inflamed colon hence being bloated, and experiencing abdominal pain and constipation. Please feel free to visit one of our natural dispensaries where our practitioners would be able to help you with this. Wish you well Regards Dr Sameera Abbas Naturopath – Cavendish |

Answer He will benefit from using Iberogast, especially if his constipation is accompanied with bloating, abdominal cramps or pain. Adding fibre to the diet will help bulk up stools. Increase intake of vegetables, bran, beans, wholegrains and seeds. Make sure that sufficient water is being consumed as dehydration can also lead to constipation. Add a probiotic containing at least 1 billion organisms to promote bowel health. Avoid taking laxatives as these make the bowel lazy. It is important that he mobilises regularly as this will also assist with regular bowel movements. Regards Sameera (Naturopath) |

Answer Is your husband under any stress? Any other bowel symptoms or signs such as bloating, bowel sounds, cramps or flatulence? Does he have any allergies? Before treating someone with bowel problems one needs to know whether he has always had the problem, or is it recent, has he had any surgery done on him, etc? Diet is very important to regulate bowel movements. Sufficient fibre such as fresh vegetables, fruit, oats and wheatbran will help bulk up stools and promote bowel regularity. Digestive enzymes will help break down food particles and improve digestion. Magnesium oxide (best taken in powder form) will oxygenate the colon and help cleanse it. A good probiotic containing at least 5 billion cultures of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium lactis will restore the good bacteria in the colon and improve regularity. Essential fatty acids (omega 3), a dose of at least 1500mg will help ease sluggish bowels. It will be best to come into Wellness Warehouse, either Kloof Street or Cavendish where we can help treat his condition. Thanks Regards Sameera |

Answer During the time of your menstruation the hormonal changes can increase the amount of water retention in the tissues and this can cause the colon to reabsorb more water than normal - leading to more solid dry stools and constipation. When this time comes along try increasing your magnesium, it will help to keep water balance and prevent constipation. regards Dr Chase Webber ND |
