Description

Inspired by the classic chocolate coated snack, we set out to create something familiar yet completely new, with the addition of chickpeas! Seeking a nutty texture that would be pleasing to the bite, we developed a process to dry roast the mighty chickpea in such a way that it produces a satisfying crunch. Combine that with a smooth 70% single-origin dark chocolate, and you’ve got a recipe that will keep you coming back. Enter Orbs! Using only chickpeas, and sustainably sourced direct trade cocoa beans from Africa, this morish chickpea snack is suitable for strict vegans and vegetarians, is Halaal, and is free from gluten, soy, cows milk and preservatives. Enjoy, guilt free.

Ingredients

70% Single-origin dark chocolate with a dry-roasted chickpea centre: Chickpeas, Dark Chocolate (Cocoa Mass 65%, Cocoa Butter 5%, Sugar, Sunflower Lecithin), Shine (Acacia Gum).

Warnings

Made in a facility that uses peanuts, soy, cows milk and wheat (gluten).

Directions

Store in a cool dry place below 21c, out of direct sunlight. Consume after opening or store in an airtight container. Never refrigerate.

Activation stations, everybody!

 

The activation process involves soaking the nuts and seeds to stimulate the sprouting process, and then airdrying them at a low temperature. This process breaks down problematic compounds (called phytates) that would otherwise decrease the bioavailability of the nutrients in the nuts and seeds, meaning our bodies can more easily absorb all the available vitamins and minerals. Activation also ensures the nuts and seeds are gentler on the digestive tract.
