Make Effective Decisions and Take Action by Dr Mark Vella ND

Reviewing our lives and the decisions we make is something we need to pay attention to. Very often we make decisions without really thinking too hard. Of course, decisions lead to choices and then actions, or non-actions. Both of these create specific results ' they lead to better health, wealth and happiness or towards disease and stress. Success comes from good decisions and positive action. Real power exists in the present moment where decisions are made and actions taken.

Here's an effective way to bolster your decision making and encourage good results.

Audit Your Current Decision Making

Look at the Life Wheel below. Rate each area between 1 and 10 (using 10 as the best it can get), based on how happy you are with the results you are getting in that area of your life. Colour each segment in, up to the level of your rating. This makes it pretty clear which areas you are doing well in and those you aren't. Then ask yourself two questions.

What role do you play in scores that are below your expectations?

What decisions and actions are you taking that drive that score?

It makes sense if you want better results, you need to improve the quality of decisions and actions that lead to those results.

Your Life Wheel

When You Decide But Don't Act

A decision made without any resultant action means you will be out of integrity with yourself, and probably with others. Because we are far more driven by our subconscious minds than our conscious minds if we get stuck it's useful to take a look in the shadows of the subconscious and see what might be causing us to sabotage our decisions. Go through this process to get more clarity. Name the decision and the choice you took. Think about the choice that might have had a better result. What subconscious motive drove you to make that choice instead? What belief is behind the choice you made instead? What feelings are you ignoring?

Stretch Yourself

To change in the results you are getting, you need to change the quality of your decisions and actions. Change nothing, nothing will change.

1. Firstly, understand that your decisions are pivotal in the way you manage yourself. You are free to choose and are responsible for those choices. Exercise that choice proactively and with responsibility.

2. Focus your decisions and actions on areas of influence. If you have no authority in an area, your decisions and actions will be wasted.

3. Make sure you can define the problem you are trying to overcome. If you can't define it, how can you take effective action?

4. Get clear on the end vision and goal, i.e. the practical result you want. Without this, you won't know what the right decisions and actions are.

5. Focus on priorities. If overloaded with too many choices, decisions and actions, you'll run out of steam and fall short. And it will show in your below par results.

We all start with the same potential for health, wealth and happiness despite circumstances. It's simply our decisions and actions that make the difference in determining the result.
