So many issues revolve around a lack of self-acceptance. It's important to spend time making peace with your body and how you look. Exploring your attributes, appreciating the wonder of your body and paying attention to how you present yourself to the world is something everyone can benefit from. Here are some ways you can nurture your being. 
So many issues revolve around a lack of self-acceptance. It's important to spend time making peace with your body and how you look. Exploring your attributes, appreciating the wonder of your body and paying attention to how you present yourself to the world is something everyone can benefit from. Here are some ways you can nurture your being.  PRACTISE POSITIVE SELF-TALK Conversations we have with ourselves are good indicators of the amount of self-love and appreciation we foster. Most people speak to themselves in a way they wouldn't dare speak to anyone else. Keep positive adjectives handy and use them to encourage yourself. Practice self-compassion. This means not judging yourself or allowing others to judge you, not blaming yourself, getting to know and accepting yourself, forgiving yourself, loving yourself, helping yourself overcome insecurities, respecting yourself and protecting yourself.   'A beautiful life will bloom from a beautiful mind that is nurtured by beautiful thoughts. If you find it difficult, pretend you are the mother of a little you and act as gently with yourself as you would to a child.  MAKE IT AN ON-GOING PROCESS Self love is asking yourself everyday what you need and then making sure you receive it. This is an on-going process that takes consistent dedication, commitment, faith, work and sweat. There are an abundance of stereotypes and limiting cultural beliefs we need to work against. Every day ask yourself what you did for your mind, your body, your spirit, your relationships, creativity and passion.  MIND ' keep a journal with a collection of positive quotes and messages you love and that inspire you. Read a really good fantasy story. Learn a poem. Explore something new. Learn facts about another culture or country. Download a scrabble app on your phone. Watch a documentary.  BODY ' Create a self-love ritual by pampering yourself from head to toe. Massage your feet and acknowledge the job they do in carrying you around. Give yourself a pedicure and paint your toenails even if it's winter and you are wearing boots all day. Exfoliate your skin all over with a good quality scrub. Run a bath and decorate it with candles. Add a luxurious oil. Put on a face mask and cover your hair with a deep moisturizer. Find the best oil or cream you can find, preferably something that has a beautiful fragrance and cover every inch of your body. Put perfume on, even if you're only going to bed. Sprinkle lavender or clary sage on your linen.   SPIRIT ' Take up meditation. Write out a guided meditation for yourself, voice record it and play it back frequently. Use prayer beads to help you pray. Read a spiritual book. Learn a mantra. Connect with your higher power. Give thanks. Make a list of things you are grateful for. Faith is the foundation for self-love, no matter what you believe or whether your are religious or not. There is beauty in belief. It develops intuition and helps you make the right decisions. Spiritual exploration unfolds a journey that helps you learn more about yourself. It uncovers new thoughts and passions that make you shamelessly authentic.  RELATIONSHIPS ' Find time to see people who are special to you. Acknowledge close friends and family by telling them how valuable they are in your life. Do something special for someone who needs it. Learn to communicate in a way that makes people feel seen and heard.  CREATIVITY ' Do something outside your normal routine that inspires you. This could be anything from a trip to the aquarium or a tour of art galleries, a visit to the SPCA, a bicycle ride to stone churches in the city, a museum, a new board on Pinterest, a movie in the middle of the day, a mountain trip, a Bonsai nursery. You might need a horse ride on the beach, a parachute jump, a long nap, a cooking lesson, a road trip, a coat of paint in your bedroom or a new scrapbook. Honour the creative spirit you have inside you and give it fuel to operate.  PASSION ' Along the journey of life, people often lose sight of what they're passionate about. Most people think there's a choice between following their passion and being 'sensible' or making money. Sometimes it's more sensible to follow your passion and have faith that abundance will follow.  'The grass is greener where you water it.'  If you've forgotten what you're passionate about, go back to your childhood and remember the things you loved the most. This will give you a clue and help you get back on track.  TURN YOUR BODY INTO A LOVING VESSEL  Treating your body like a loving vessel will amplify your level of self-love and give you more energy. You'll be more intentional about what you put into your body and the amount of rest and care you give it. Eating nutrient rich food, getting enough exercise, sleeping well, exposing yourself to nature and beauty and honouring your passions stem from self-respect and love.
