Dear Y

Thank you for your question. As with you initial question I cannot offer an opinion without examining you personally. Pain that does not change in intensity over an extended period of time, or increases in intensity, is a sign to take note of. If you are still concerned about the joint please go and see your GP or make an appointment with me at my practice.

Many thanks and warm regards

Yesheen

Dear Y

Thank you for your question. It is difficult to diagnose a dislocation without physically examining your joint. I would say that the possible diagnoses include dislocation, subluxation (a less serious form of dislocation), or inflammation of the joint in question. Please visit your GP to ascertain which of the above it is because they all require quite individual therapies.

Many thanks and warm regards

Yesheen

Unfortunately, most homeopathic laboratories will deal with a practitioner only. There are many homeopathic laboratories such as Natura, Pharma Natura and Herbal Homeopathic which are located in South Africa. They will be able to make up the remedy itself in the form of pills or liquid and not necessarily in an ampoule form.Your Homeopath could request a special formula made with Heel in Germany. This is not a product they list in their usual range of ampoules. It is an international homeopathic pharmacy. Your homeopath could email them using this email: internationale.apo@pharma-online.de We have just extended our WellClinic services to include consultation by a number of health professionals including a Homeopath. Should you need an appointment please contact 021 4875425

Osteo-arthritis is associated with general wear and tear and previous joint injury. There are also unknown factors that predispose to the development of arthritis. From an allopathic point of view, simple analgesics like Paracetamol and anti-inflammatories, taken regularly may help reduce pain and swelling. Your doctor would also be able to prescribe stronger analgesics depending on your condition. You would need to see you doctor regarding the suitability of taking anti-inflammatories as they are contra-indicated in ischaemic heart disease and in any history of gastro-intestinal ulceration or bleeding. I would also recommend you have X-rays taken of the effected joints to see the degree of damage and whether joint replacement may be indicated. From a supplement perspective. Chondroitin and glucosamine supplements are the most commonly used in arthritis treatment and may assist with joint pain, joint surface protection and repair. There are a number of other natural supplements such as boswellia, devils claw, vitamin E and ginger that have been shown to be of benefit in research studies. Other advice includes: starting a gentle programme of walking and strengthening exercises to reduce pain and improve joint function. This will also assist weightloss, which can contribute to the degenerative process and pain. This is relevant in arthritis effecting the lower limbs. For further information on supplementation or advice, please visit our Natural Medicine Dispensary at Kloof or Cavendish. Kind regards. Dr Sean Gomes MD
