Thank you for your question. Firstly are you 100% certain that this was his first time having sexual intercourse of any nature with someone else? If he was indeed a virgin the he most probably caught the infection from you. Herpes is a virus. Acyclovir will help to clear up the rash but you cannot ever kill the virus, you simply "put it to sleep". It will reawaken if your immune system is low, which opens to the door to it, and begin a new series of painful genital rashes. It is fairly common in communities who practice unprotected sex. There are many women and men who go on to get married, have children and lead happy lives after contracting herpes because they look after their immune systems and keep the door closed to the virus.
1. If you are not exclusive with one another use a condom. Having herpes makes it easier to contract other STD's like syphilis and HIV.
2. Have a pap smear - herpes increases your risk of developing cervical cancer down the line so make sure you have a smear every 1-2 years.
3. Keep your immune system healthy - avoid foods that suppress it like sugar and dairy, Use strong immune boosting supplements like a probiotic and Ester-C or Spirulina.
4. Remember that your thoughts are very powerful. If you are stressed your immune system will be suppressed and when that happens the virus will wake up and become active again. Always remain postive, gorunded and calm.
Many thanks and warm regards
