Himalayan salt is rock salt from a mine in the Punjab region of Pakistan. It is commonly used in cooking, in place of other table salt. The pink colour is an indication of this salt’s rich and varying mineral and energy-rich iron content. Because of the minerals in Himalayan salt, pink salt may assist with creating an electrolyte, balance pH (alkaline/acidity) and help to reduce acid reflux. It is also beneficial in preventing muscle cramping, aiding in proper metabolism functioning, strengthening bones and lowering blood pressure. These pink crystals are ground to release a natural salty flavour to cooking.
