The Wellness Green Journey

At Wellness Warehouse, sustainability is not just a buzzword; it’s a core principle driving our mission as a preventative and holistic health and wellness retailer.
Our focus is on providing eco-friendly products that are as good for the planet as they are for people. As the Group Head of Organisational Sustainability, I’m thrilled to share our journey and the strides we’ve made in aligning our strategy with positive environmental impacts.
Our commitment to sustainability truly deepened when we began examining our choices around packaging from an own-brand perspective. Sustainability is an ever-evolving landscape, and we’re constantly pushing the boundaries to find commercially viable and fit-for-purpose solutions. By integrating more sustainable packaging options, we’ve been able to adapt as new information and innovations emerge - particularly regarding plastic and glass.
The environmental impact of packaging (particularly plastic) is where we see the greatest need for change. To address this, we’ve partnered with Polyco, a leading organisation in recycling and sustainable plastic packaging solutions. We’ve also joined forces with The Glass Recycling Company for our glass packaging. Together, we’re engaging our suppliers and examining the entire value chain, from cradle to grave. As a brand owner, we recognise our responsibility to educate not only our internal teams but also our suppliers, ensuring that every product choice aligns with our mission to minimise environmental impact.
Sustainability isn’t just about large-scale initiatives; it’s also about the small, incremental changes we can make in our daily lives. Personally, I’ve found that composting - as simple as it sounds - is a transformative mindset shift. At home, this means being mindful of the products I use on my body, composting organic waste, and reducing reliance on single-use items. These small actions, when adopted collectively, have the power to create significant change.
At Wellness Warehouse, we’ve taken substantial steps to reduce our environmental footprint. At our Support Office and Distribution Centre, we’ve partnered with Y-Waste to divert 100% of our food waste from landfills. Instead, this waste is channelled into a composting cycle, turning what would have been waste into valuable resources. This initiative underscores our commitment to a circular economy and showcases how business practices can align with sustainability goals.
We believe strongly in the interconnectedness of product choices, the environment, and human health. From packaging to ingredients, every decision has an impact. By fostering awareness and encouraging action, we aim to inspire not only our staff and suppliers but also our customers to join us on this journey.
At Wellness Warehouse, we believe that sustainability is a shared responsibility. Together, through education, innovation, and collaboration, we can create a healthier planet and a brighter future for all.
“Wellness Warehouse strives to help you live life well but because we are retailers and not medical practitioners we cannot offer medical advice.
